The scientific services of the Bundestag have presented a report on the “Impact of the measures to combat the
COVID-19 pandemic on cultural life in Germany”. Overall, the report says, sales in the cultural and creative industries fell by 22.4 billion euros. This level of sales corresponds to that of 17 years ago, the report states. The performing arts, the music industry, the art market and the film industry were particularly hard hit, it said.
The various federal and state funding and assistance programs have only been able to “rudimentarily” compensate for these enormous losses.
