On April the 23rd, the Deutscher Musikrat e. V. and the Konferenz der Landesmusikräte im Deutschen Musikrat published a recommendation for the resumption of musical operations in the amateur and professional sector under consideration of appropriate hygiene concepts. Prof. Martin Maria Krüger, President of the Deutscher Musikrat (German Music Council), comments: “Only a few weeks ago, the Deutsches Musikinformationszentrum (miz), in cooperation with the Institut für Demoskopie Allensbach (Allensbach Institute for Public Opinion Research), proved in a study that almost 15 million people in Germany, including 14.3 million amateurs and 600 thousand professionals, actively sing and make music. Politics owes these people a clear opening perspective!(…)”
The chairwoman of the Konferenz der Landesmusikräte Prof. Dr. Ulrike Liedtke also comments: “(…)Sufficient scientific studies are available, new experiences with musical processes under pandemic conditions shape the current situation. All vocal and instrumental musicians are united by the deep desire to be allowed to practice their art and to be able to perform in public again. At the same time, all players are fully aware of their high health responsibility in their own ensemble and towards the audience.(…)”
