Monika Grütters advocates open-air events

The Minister of State for Culture, Monika Grütters, spoke to RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland on the subject of open-air events.

“I understand the desire to allow open-air events again as quickly as possible, and I also support this,” Grütters said. However, she stresses that responsible action must be taken, as such events can quickly become unmanageable and the routes to and from them also risk transmitting infections.

The Minister of Culture also hopes that the current measures will improve the situation. Together with the Federal Environment Agency, Monika Grütters commissioned a study on culture. The study showed that cultural institutions with a seated audience could be opened. If this were to happen under certain conditions, the risk of infection could be negligibly reduced. It should be noted, however, that the study was conducted when the incidence was below 50.
