The TV Platform Study is published twice a year by AGF and represents the development of the use of online video offerings. For the current study “AGF TV Platform 2021-II”, around 2,500 German-speaking people aged 14 and over were surveyed in TV households in the period from August to October.
The results show a slight decline in the use of paid streaming platforms, such as Netflix or Amazon Prime, compared to the spring of 2021. While at the beginning of the year 43.1 % of those surveyed said they used these platforms, the figure is now only 41.3 %. This decline is explained by the fact that the Spring 2021 study was conducted in the midst of the lockdown, while the current study’s data comes from a period of looser Corona restrictions. Due to these relaxations, consumers increasingly used the opportunity to engage in outside activities and thus spent less time on video platforms. If one compares the current values with those of 2020, however, no great difference becomes visible. At best, the current values are slightly higher than those of the previous year.
