re:publica

Organizer: republica GmbH

The time of the Corona pandemic defies measurability worldwide. Every status quo, whether private, economic or political, is only that: a snapshot, devoid of any possibility of comparison. It is an interim period in which the past and the future are equally at rest. Yesterday’s plans are just as obsolete as plans for tomorrow.
The re.publica hangs firmly ‘In The Mean Time’, in the now, the time between pre- and post-Corona.

re:publica 2021 – „In The Mean Time“

Nevertheless, re:publica wouldn’t be re:publica if we – “In The Mean Time” – couldn’t rely on our creativity and optimism, as well as our focus on the essentials.
Before celebrating another analog re:publica (and the 15th edition!) next year, the event will return with a digital edition under the motto “In The Mean Time” from May 20-22, 2021. On re-publica.tv, the event will be streamed live from the Museum of Technology in Berlin and discussed in new formats together with you and exciting speakers and partners – including TINCON.

We will take a look at the time between pre- and post-Corona, an in-between time that is detached from normality. The time that we all have to cope with right now, that we have to deal with and that often was and is a demanding or even existence-threatening, “mean” time – a “mean time” in other words.

What has changed “In The Mean Time”, which topics are – apart from the pandemic – more current than ever (remained) and how does it go on now and in the future? It looks in depth, including what’s happening outside the headlines and overarching structures. Which urgent debates have perhaps even disappeared from the news or don’t make it in in the first place? What about climate change, for example, or the situation of refugees? What very personal stories are being written “In The Mean Time”, in “real” life and away from what is being discussed “up there”?

At re:publica 2021, both sides of the pandemic will be highlighted, which has made it more obvious than any crisis what a society in 2021 needs not only in the meantime, but also “in the after” – and what not (anymore).
